all in a day's work

My days these past few months are centered more on doing household chores.  Yes! Every day I find myself thinking on what to cook for lunch or dinner or how to make our house spic and span.

My day today—it’s a Saturday! Should I say hooray for today? Not quite since every day is like a weekend for me. I’ve been stuck in the house for 4 months now and every day is almost the same.

This morning, I was up early since my husband has to be in the office at 6am. I prepped my early morning snack while he got himself ready for work. I had cold milk and a piece bread and when he left, I cooked rice and fried egg for my breakfast. Yes, I am that hungry every morning that I need to have early morning snack and then the “real breakfast” will follow after an hour or two. Hehehe!

After I ate, I went to the bedroom and made the bed, opened the windows, swept the floor, arranged some stuff and then off to the living room to sweep and arrange. And oh! I almost forgot the dishes and pots that were all over the kitchen! Wearing my comfy apron, I washed the pots and dishes and de-cluttered the kitchen mess. Hubby is really particular when it comes to cleanliness so after rinsing the dishes and pots, I wiped clean the counter with alcohol. Arrgh!!! There’s still the friggin’ oven… So I got a washcloth and cleaned the oven as well.

I thought that’s the end of it. I realized that I wash our undergarments yesterday and since it was drizzling early this morning, I had it dried using the electric fan. After that, I went back to our room and took a nap (for 30 minutes)

When I woke up, I realized that it’s time to cook for lunch. Oh no! What to cook? I decided to have soup since the weather is quite cold. I got the pork out from the fridge to thaw and then I sliced the onions, ginger, cabbage, bell pepper etc.  I then placed the spices and pork in the pot and bring it to boil or to make the pork tender before adding the veggies. While waiting, I browsed through the net and read the daily news, checked all my “social accounts” (hahaha) then continued reading a novel (e-book) from my ipad.

Then, at 11:30 I set the table and tossed the veggies in the boiling pot then added salt and ground pepper to taste. Hubby arrived and we had a happy lunch together.  Hubby then had to go back early since they will be having a meeting….again! (for the nth time)
So, I cleared the table, washed the dishes and pots, wiped clean the counter again with alcohol as well as the oven using washcloth and then swept the kitchen floor.  I AM TIRED!

So that’s half of my Saturday. I am hoping that later we will go out or maybe have some pizza for dinner while watching movies. I am in the house from Monday-Saturday and I guess I need a BREATHER every weekend. We are supposed to touch base in Bukidnon later but my brother and aunt are not feeling well.  I don’t want to risk my health again especially now that I am carrying a very precious cargo—my little boy who makes everything light and bubbly.
