Happy 35th! :)

For Pa Zee and Ma Fin or their 35thth Wedding Anniversary (1st of May)

Mama arrived in Tagoloan to look for a job and she stayed with her Aunt’s house which was rented from my father’s family.  Papa, on the other hand, wanted to become a priest but fate and feet drew him to the other way around.
On a fresh sunny morning while Mama was out pressing clothes outside her Aunt’s house, my Papa also decided to check their coconut trees/land along that area. And lo and behold! He saw Mama and was… well, probably smitten by her pretty, pretty beautiful face… and decided to approach my Mama’s Aunt  days after if he could come and visit. And the rest was history!

Mama and Papa are completely the opposites. Ma Fin is free-spirited and always wanted every body to be smiling and happy.  She can easily mingle with strangers, she talks with so much gusto and she is very proud of us. To the max!!!! She had a very beautiful childhood experience like bathing in the river, riding on a carabao with her cousins, sneaking out to watch movies, playing the whole day till her Mama will scold her. She is totally a hands-on mother. She brought and fetched us every day to school since we were kids and she takes care of us until now and still calls us “mga bata”. Like touching base in our home sweet home, she would say  “ang mga bata, mag breakfast na”…  hahahahahaha! And she easily cries when one of us goes to another place. She’s an active member of BEC and has lots of friends in the neighbourhood that’s why Papa often scolds her for coming home late. (ng chika paman) She’s Ma Fin or Tita Fin to all our friends. When our friends visited us in our house, she is the one who entertain and talks with them until forever or … until we tell her to stop talking. Hahahha! She  also talks and cuddles to our 9 dogs like her babies or “apos”.

And yes, she’s a certified Facebook netizen and she likes my photos one by one. 70 or more  notifications and all are from her. She likes taking photos everywhere…even the deserted plaza in RER Subdivision. She told my brother to stop the car, went down and had her photo taken among the tall grasses and trees. That’s our Mama Fin and we love her dearly. She always fills our love cup to the brim.

On the other hand, my Papa Zee is the silent, reflective type. He rarely smiles and has this strict face but actually, he has a very soft spot in his heart. When he was young, he spent his time reading books and not minding all his ka-berks calling him out to play. (snubero ang papa ko!) and he served as an altar boy most of his growing up years which prolly prompted him to join St. John Vianney’s Seminary. Pa Zee is very hard working and yes, very frugal in all aspects. But his being frugal brought us to good schools and his being disciplinarian made us to become good citizens of this world! hahahhaha! Seriously, he is the anchor that holds us all together into this tighter nucleus. He continuously holds that strong, solid foundation of our family and kept us all grounded to our roots all through these years.

On the softie soft side, Papa likes eating icecream (with or without cone). He has this “suki” in tagoloan that drops by every day to bring him that “dirty icecream” (as we call it) and he would eat like it’s the only icecream left in this world. Hahaha He loves playing with children and making them cry.  (joke!) Papa likes to repair old things and brought them to life. (insert “laugh”)  And he doesn't
mind the interior and the exterior of our house as long as there’s no hole from the roof and that we don’t get wet.  In short, he screams of simplicity and frugality in all things. Penny-wise and ukay-ukay wise!

I am happy that Ma and Pa were brought together forever in their lives. Both of them strike the balance or equilibrium in our family. Papa is kind of strict but Mama is somewhat lenient..which make us all happy. When Papa can be so reflective and dead pan serious, Mama breaks the “boredom” by striking her funny, silly stories and we would all be laughing and rolling on the floor. (like crazy yagits!)

Papa was 26 and Mama was 29 when they got married. And they are blessed with four beautiful and handsome children. (of course! hahaha)…. And that’s me, Ate Jessel, Kuya JP and Manoy/Bro James Mark.

..and I believe that we will live happily ever after.

N.B.  or P.S  please auto correct the grammar for me.. hahhahaha
