Mara and I have been very good friends since high school
although we have known each other since preschool. She transferred to another school
by grade 2 so we had different set of friends. But when we reached high school,
we were drawn into each other’s lives again. We were both in Science class for
4 solid years and things were easier because we have each other for comfort,
chikka and whatnots! We both represented our school during PressCon which made us
closer too. She was the feature story writer while I did sports.
We also kept a journal and wrote letters to each other
although we were in the same classroom. It was kind of weird to be exchanging
letters to each other when we can just talk whenever and wherever. But that’s
us! We love to express our pent up emotions through writing and sharing kilig
love stories through the magic of words.
Mara went to UP Diliman in college and she took up Visual
Communication. She’s really good in arts, advertising and anything related to
that. I took up Development Communication
in Xavier University and I am good in weaving words? Haha! I don’t know what I
am good at! During our college years, we still exchanged messages via Sms or we
kept in touch through social networks like Friendster and YM. Who could ever
forget FRIENDSTER? It was the bomb before with all the testimonials galore. We
both have blogs but I think motherhood (now), as well as her job before made
her so busy that she completely stopped blogging.
There was a time when we were both the unemployed duos.
We spent our days lounging around taking photos from here to there. We dolled
ourselves with pretty dresses and her being fashionista transformed my “simple”
self into a dazzling, “pretty” (hehehe) swan. Aww! We shared and compared notes
about relationships, health, trends, blogs and everything in between. She
married her 1st and only boyfriend since high school and now they
are blessed with a happy, healthy, bouncing baby boy. As for me, I let go my
high school sweetheart and found the love of my life in the most unusual
circumstances. And yes, we just got married last December.
Anyhoo, Mara and I cringed at the thought of illness. We
are both having some medical issues but we know we will always get by. We both
got married and got pregnant in the same
year. Unfortunately, I had miscarriage few months ago. But I am so happy that
Mara is blessed with a healthy baby boy and I am this excited to see them both
this Sunday… I am Ninang/Tita Ivy to baby Dino Raphael Rivera-Estrada. Proud to
be!
I thank God that I am blessed with beautiful friends
inside and out. I always keep and treasure beautiful friendship inside my
heart. I thank God for sending Mara into
my life. Life is way much better having a good friend who will stick with me
come high tide or low tide. Now, we both marvel our new world as wife to our
husband.
By the way, we call each other Chix and Chec.. or chixie
and checky.. The C duo!
On her birthday, I am wishing her and her growing family
a happy, blissful and peaceful life. As she said, this year will be paved with
good intentions for the both of us.
It will…. I know it will be. Cheers to friendship! :-) love yah Mar :) hugs!
