save up! :)

While waiting for hubby to get home, I made myself busy by reading an ebook in my Nook Tab, cleaning the kitchen area as well as the living room. I made a mental note of what we are going to do tomorrow but finally decided to jot it down on my trusty old journal because I easily forget things. My memory is as short as that of a goldfish which is 5 seconds. Hahaha!

Last night, Bee and I talked about our relationship, marriage, financial status and our 5 year project plan. I actually whined and whimpered about how tired I am with teaching young children. I have always love teaching but I guess it’s the pressure and some other daily stressors in life that have taken its toll on me. Or I guess it is just another phase that I have to go through.

Anyway, Bee shared to me that I should plan for the month and for the years to come. He also underscored the importance of saving for the rainy days. He carefully laid out to me our financial status and that I should be aware of the daily expenses that we are having. And so, tonight or maybe tomorrow we will be updating our expenses in Excel.
I believe that one of the challenges of newlywed couple is handling daily expenses and finances. I am just so blessed I have a husband who manages our finances so well.  Right now, we list down our expenses for the present month so that we can adjust and stick to our budget on the next.  I volunteered to pay the electric and water bills and will also share on the groceries.

For now, I have my direct save up although I am really planning to join FICCO or XUCCO. I will visit these two cooperatives within the month and see how far my money goes. My husband also saves a portion of his income and we really want to increase our savings. I have read in an article that says savings must be at least 6 months’ worth of your salary. At least, this can be a fall back or a safety net in case something unexpected comes up or some unforeseen but important expenses. I need to learn how to scrimp and save my money and be financially independent in the future. My husband and I have to start young and early to fatten our bank account for our future.  Sacrifices have to be made but of course, it is alright to splurge once in awhile. We do need to treat ourselves for the hard work being done.
